I created this pattern after my first neice was born. I love designs that incorporate the use of applique. I've made this quilt so many times but I think my favorite is my Seahawks quilt. For this quilt you will need 6- 8" squares of a neutral fabric to serve as back ground squares for the applique sections. A 5-6" design works well. You can make this quilt with a layer cake but you will need to suppliment with additional fabrics for the body of the quilt. I don't include the appliques in the pattern as most of them have been embroidery design which I have done by machine. My pattern includes directions for a single 5" border with cornerstones. Many of my sample quilts were done with different borders because I use what I hand and what I think works well for a particular quilt. Its simple to add additional borders if desired. Finished quilt with single border is 45 x 50.
